Pat Brassington, Dr Peter Hill and Edward Colless have been appointed as Judges for the 2018 Hutchins Australian Contemporary Art Prize. They collectively work across the arts as established artists, writers, educators, professors and curators, and represent vast experience and expertise in the field.
Hutchins Art Curator, Dr Joy Barber-Milojevic said that the organising committee was absolutely delighted to have such an erudite and exceptional judging panel to evaluate the art prize entries. She observed that the exponential growth in the reputation and profile of the Hutchins Australian Contemporary Art Prize within the Australian community was in large part due to the high profile of the appointed judges and the confidence inspired by their professionalism. Barber-Milojevic said it would be a challenging process for the judges in 2018 as with the ‘opening up’ in entry criteria, organisers were expecting a high number and highly competitive field of entrants. She added that she was looking forward to having the judges present at the Awards evening and sharing in the excitement of Dark MOFO in Hobart.
